How To Re-wear Your Christmas Party Pieces

Posted on

Christmas is an exciting time of year, yet it is widely known for being a huge contributor to excessive buying of items which have only been designed and purchased with the intention of being used and worn once. Then thrown away in our January “new year, new me” clear outs.

Now, don’t get me wrong i absolutely love freshening up my wardrobe, that clean minimalist feeling of out with the old and in with the new, but have we ever thought about repurposing these items? finding new use for them in ways we hadn’t initially thought of? With the amount of clothing that is thrown away nowadays, approximately 300,000 tons of clothing a year in the UK, i think it's about time we found new ways of freshening up our wardrobes with the christmas clothes we already have, which is why I’ve put together my top tips on how to dress down your christmas party pieces.

1. Shoes

As we all know, the shoes you pick can make or break your outfit, and trainers/ sneakers have never been as in as they are right now. We’ve seen a massive rise in red carpet events and fashion weeks all over the world featuring their guests wearing high end designer gowns and the latest fashion looks paired with trainers. They really have become a chic alternative to heels.

Check out our latest trainers here.

Take this look for example, the unexpected combo of the pleated silky skirt and classic nude sneakers makes for a chic, yet edgy look.

2. Layering

Layering always has been, and always will be fashions best friend. It's winters favourite and springs secret weapon. Knowing how and when to layer can transform your most basic outfit into a high fashion look. Spring is in the air, yet there is a cold chill still lurking, and now is the perfect time to get your christmas skirts out and layer them with jumpers.

Check out our latest jumpers here.

To re-create this casual yet chic look seen in the photos above, why don't you take your christmas party midi skirt or dress and pair with some neutral cool trainers and an over sized sweater. My top picks from the Timpanys website, are the Chloe Sonnie Low Top Sneakers and N.Pearl Cashmere Roll Neck.

3. Confidence

Let’s be honest now, we’ve all been there done that when it comes to loving an outfit on someone else yet not having the confidence to wear it ourselves. But yes, you are fabulous and you can wear whatever you want and you CAN pull it off. Easier said than done i her you say, how about starting by wearing what makes you comfortable, and powerful. Those statement earrings or killer blazer you’re obsessed with, pair them with a slightly risky outfit you’re not used to wearing to add some familiarity to your look… and go from there.

Now lets get out there, and re-wear our sparkly, shiny and now versatile Christmas pieces and save this planet.
